Chirale joins the Metaverse Standard Forum as Principal Member

Chirale has been accepted into the new body in charge of accelerating and coordinating the Metaverse interoperability standards and its integration with the Internet.

On 21 June 2022 the Metaverse Standard Forum (MSF) was officially established, an organisation structured along the lines of the standardisation bodies that enabled the growth and development of the Internet.

The founding members of the MSF include the world’s leading technology providers, among them: 0xSenses, Academy Software Foundation, Adobe, Alibaba, Autodesk, Avataar, Blackshark.ai, CalConnect, Cesium, Daly Realism, Disguise, the Enosema Foundation, Epic Games, the Express Language Foundation, Huawei, IKEA, John Peddie Research, Khronos, Lamina1, Maxon, Meta, Microsoft, NVIDIA, OpenAR Cloud, the Open Geospatial Consortium, Otoy, Perey Research and Consulting, Qualcomm Technologies, Ribose, Sony Interactive Entertainment, Spatial Web Foundation, Unity, VerseMaker, Wayfair, the Web3D Consortium, the World Wide Web Consortium, and the XR Association (XRA).

The Metaverse Standards Forum brings together standardisation bodies and high-tech companies with the goal of fostering industry-wide cooperation on the interoperability standards needed to build the open Metaverse, monitoring the factors that may limit its diffusion and providing supporting action to coordinate and accelerate the development of the required standards.

The Forum will focus on pragmatic, concrete projects, while developing dedicated guidelines and a consistent terminology.

The Metaverse is increasingly fostering the spread and integration of various technologies for so-called collaborative spatial computing, such as interactive 3D graphics, augmented and virtual reality, the creation of photorealistic content, geospatial systems, digital twins, real-time collaboration, simulation, online economies and multi-user games, enhancing the scalability and immersion levels of related platforms.

Chirale has long been at the forefront of this field, and in July it was accepted among the Principal Members of the Metaverse Standard Forum.

Based on this level of Membership, Chirale will take part in the sessions dedicated to the Forum’s organisation and to the coordination and supervision of the standards, with the opportunity to contribute its experience as a qualified technology operator and to promote its vision of developments in this fast-growing field.
