PHASE 2: Access to FabLab Services

From 4 May, professional and academic users carrying out activities not subject to suspension will be able to access our FabLabs in compliance with the COVID-19 Shared Safety Protocol of 24.4.20. News also for the courses.

From 4 May, manufacturing-production activities and research-and-development activities connected to Universities are once again allowed.

It will therefore be possible to access again the machine-use services at our laboratories FabLab Ostiense at via Ostiense 92, inside the Talent Garden Campus of Rome, and Spazio Chirale in Garbatella.

Both laboratories have been reorganised to ensure compliance with interpersonal distances and conformity with the COVID-19 Shared Safety Protocol of 24 April 2020.

All those carrying out activities allowed from 4 May can request the booking of machines using the online function available on our website.

As for our courses, at the moment the classroom sessions remain suspended in compliance with the indications of the latest decrees of the Italian Prime Minister and the regional ordinances.

The new e-learning platform chirale.online has been activated, where some of our courses are already available. Those enrolled in the classroom courses will receive the credentials to access in the next few days.

For all courses, a fruition model has been designed that takes into account the safety and flexibility needs that will characterise the coming months.

Each of the courses on chirale.online is structured into Lessons. Each Lesson is divided into Topics and includes a Quiz that allows the student to self-evaluate their learning process.

For each Topic there is a video lesson recorded in high resolution (HD). In dedicated sections called “materials” of the description pages for Courses, Lessons and Topics, the links to didactic resources and supporting documents are listed.

Within the Courses there are pages allowing direct access to live videoconference and webinar events that will be scheduled on a weekly basis. Participation in live events is not mandatory for course completion, but constitutes a moment of meeting and sharing of experiences and topics between teacher and students.

All enrolled students will also be able to book one-to-one meetings with teachers in videoconference or at our FabLabs.

Course enrollees will be able to book access to the laboratories and machines, which will be free if referring to exercise activities during the course, and will include teacher assistance.

Laboratory access will be managed in compliance with the safety and health-protection rules in force.

We will soon dedicate a specific post on this blog to the topic of the new modalities for course delivery.
