The new FabLab Ostiense is operational!

The new, evocative FabLab Ostiense, after the Grand Inaugural Evening, is fully operational. Activities and training courses have begun.

After the success of the Grand Opening that took place on Friday 18 October — amid rivers of beer, electronic music and Video-DJ-Mapping by the fantastic Dottor Pira, inside the evocative industrial-archaeology area, between the Centrale Montemartini and the former Gas Works with the Great Gasometer and the skeletons of the coal-distillation plants — the new FabLab Ostiense has begun its activities.

The first machines, such as the 130W CO2 laser cutter and the CNC milling machine, are already operational; the Electronic Laboratory is fully equipped; 3D Printers of various sizes are distributed throughout the area, and soon the machines for the digital processing of innovative materials will arrive.

The new laboratory, in fact, will host our experimentation, research and development centre on e-textiles and on direct printing on fabric for High Fashion.

UV printing and sublimation technologies will soon be activated inside the laboratory.

During the year, the installation of a large-format CNC router pantograph is also planned.

The FabLab, like all Chirale Spaces, will host Higher Vocational Training courses, allowing us to double our offering in this sector in the Ostiense-Garbatella quadrant, our historical headquarters.

The first courses are already on the calendar, and on Wednesday 23 October the first event took place — dedicated to 3D Printing & Desktop Fabrication — with a promising sold-out crowd!
